Metaverse, the latest conference that addresses current trends in Second Life and Virtual Worlds will take place in Ludwigsburg in Spring 2008.
Since it was established in 2003, Second Life has become one of the most innovative and profitable projects in the IT and business world. And as much as there are doubts, there is also no denying that a change is definitely going to take place and it is set to have its effects on the industry and community alike.
Software & Support Verlag has initiated Metaverse 07 together with the Second Life experts Bokowsky + Laymann with the objective to report on the latest technological trends and progress. From the organizers point of view the topic Second Life is not the problem, but the insecure market situation. Therefore the conference has been postponed and the conference concept will be aligned accordingly.

About the Name ‘Metaverse’ The name of the conference is drawn from Neil Stephenson's 1992 science fiction novel "Snow Crash". The characters in the novel regularly escape to Metaversum - a mixture of the Internet and MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game), where they dawn avatars. The concept of Metaversum, as is described in the novel, has inspired the implementation of virtual worlds such as Second Life and World of Warcraft (WoW).
